Chris is writing a story for his school news paper. However, the story he writes no one likes, not even his best friend or his teacher. He was told to write something real, but everyone considers it boring. Greg gives Chris the advice to make up a story and "give the people what they want". Chris then makes up a story about a serial killer call the Scissor Killer and writes an interview with the killer. Everyone loves this story.
Chris keeps his mouth shut and accepts the praise for his story, even though he knows it's made up. Before Chris knows it, even the real newspaper printed the article and the police are searching Bed-Sty for the killer. Chris doesn't know what to do, so he continues to keep quiet.
But, then the police shows up at his house to get a discription of the Scissor Killer so they can search for him. Chris lies and makes up a discription. But the cop doesn't really listening to any detail besides that the man is black and tall, and he tries to arrest Chris' father when he comes in from work. Chris has no choice but to tell the police. He says he's sorry and it's enough for the cop, but his parents are angry and punish him with a beating.
Back at school, everyone is made at him for lieing and under his name in the school year book he's listed as "LIAR!!!"
