Waahh!

Okay, so yesterday was one of those bad days. When I got home from school, I learned that my little brother (he's 15) had gotten knocked out by some other kid in his school. He had a huge lump on his left temple and said he couldn't remember what happened. The school said some kid hit him and he fell down some stairs and hit his head on a radiator and blacked out for a few minutes. The school nurse said he appeared to be ok, but to take him to the hospital if things got worse.

I didn't really think much of it as he's always getting into fights and getting hurt being stupid or picking on the wrong kids. But as the day went on he drove us all nuts by asking the same questions over and over like "Who hit me?" and "How did I get home?" and when we answered him, 5 minutes later he'd ask the same question over again. At first we thought he was faking it because he tends to fake being sick or hurt all of the time and is a well known liar. But then it seemed to get worse as he ran around the house asking where his Yu-gi-Oh trading cards were and looking for them in the same places over and over. We decided to take him to the hospital.

While mom tried to get him to stop searching for cards and get dressed, I walked to the store to get some money from the ATM so we'd have enough cab fare back home... and a car almost hit me! Scariest thing I've been through in a long while. It was my light and I was walking across the street when a car came to turn the corner and before I could move out of the street, the thing just sped at me. I tried to run, but the car was coming too fast. All I could do was step back and hold out my hands to try and brace myself. I was sure I was dead. But the car stopped in time and only hit my hand a little. The guy asked me if I was okay, said "sorry" real quick, and sped away. I was half in a daze and shocked I was still alive. But I continued on to the store, got the cash, and very, extra carefully walked back home.

We got to the hospital around 9pm and got checked out quickly since little bro is a kid and could go to pediatrics. We waited in a room for a while and I played my DS to keep from being bored. Around 10 a nurse came and turned on the tv so we watched that for a while until it was time for brother to get s CAT scan. The scan only took like 10-15 minutes and they we waited for the results. It was around 12 midnight when they came and told us that it appeared to just be a mild concussion. He'll be fine and just needs to take a few days off from school. They prescribed him tylenol and then we waited for a cab to go home. We got home about 1am and I didn't sleep until 3am (so it's not my fault if I fall asleep in class today!).

I'm glad everything's okay but that day was just a really crappy one. Crossing the street is a lot scarier for me now, but at least I'm alive and my little brother will be back to being a jerk in no time :)

p.s.
My life did not flash before my eyes. I got gyped!
